When mental health issues affect your family, having access to immediate, competent, and compassionate care is key to getting on the path to recovery. Lowcountry Transitions, a 17-bed inpatient crisis stabilization unit at CMC offers the only access to this level of treatment in this geographical area.
Lowcountry Transitions is located on the 4th floor of the hospital and is staffed by registered nurses, mental health technicians, social workers, an activities therapist, and board certified Psychiatrists. Patients arriving at the hospital’s Emergency Department for care are assessed by a Psychiatrist and treatment begins within 24-hours.
Mental health services at CMC benefit all patients admitted to the hospital because Psychiatrists are available for consultation on any patient whose physician believes they may benefit from an evaluation.
Lowcountry Transitions treats a wide range of disorders including:
- Bipolar disorder
- Anxiety and depression
- Dual diagnosis for substance abuse
