Colleton Medical Center’s eight-bed physical and medical rehabilitation department is the oldest in the Lowcountry and has been serving the community for nearly 20 years.
Our interdisciplinary team strives to provide patient-centered care in a family atmosphere. The team includes nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and nutritionists.
The typical patient requires rehabilitation following a stroke, spinal injury, closed head injury, and orthopedic rehabilitation. Our program is highly recognized in the community as we receive patients from both Columbia and Beaufort.
Other special features of our holistic approach to rehabilitation include group dining, to allow our patients to socialize during their rehabilitation time; the availability of a staff physiatrist, to serve patients mental needs; as well as an inpatient gym. The program also provides home evaluations and rehabilitation services to amputees in our community.
