Following an unannounced (3-day) evaluation of performance standards, Colleton Medical Center earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval®. The three-year accreditation recognizes Colleton Medical Center’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission's standards for quality and safety.

In November 2021, Colleton Medical Center underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated Colleton Medical Center’s compliance spanning several areas including environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management, and rights and responsibilities of the individual.

“I want to recognize our team for their dedication to providing the highest quality of compassionate care,” said Jimmy Hiott, Colleton Medical Center CEO. “As a direct result of Team Colleton working together to care for our community like family, Colleton Medical Center has been accredited for over forty-five years.”

“As a private accreditor, The Joint Commission surveys health care organizations to protect the public by identifying deficiencies in care and working with those organizations to correct them as quickly and sustainably as possible,” says Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and chief nursing executive, The Joint Commission. “We commend Colleton Medical Center for its continuous quality improvement efforts in patient safety and quality of care.”
