One of the easiest ways to support those affected by Hurricane Helene is blood donation. This is why Colleton Medical Center and The Blood Connection strongly urge the community to roll up their sleeves and donate blood on Thursday, October 3.

The Blood Connection serves South Carolina, North Carolina, and portions of Georgia and Virginia. With their offices in Savannah and Augusta closed due to Helene the blood supply is critically low.

The sad reality is every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs a blood transfusion. That number increases in the face of large-scale emergencies. Unfortunately, the supply simply doesn’t keep up with the demand. Blood donors of all types are urgently needed.

The blood drive will be held from 10 am to 3 pm at the Colleton Ambulatory Surgery Center located at 304 Medical Park Drive. Blood donors must be healthy, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be 17 years old or 16 with written parental consent.

Walk-ins are welcome. Appointments are preferred. Visit The Blood Collection donation page or call (864) 255-5000 to make an appointment for the October 3 Blood Drive. Each donor will receive a $50 e-gift card.
