We recognize that the recent media attention around COVID-19 may prompt some questions. We want to assure you that our hospital has strong protocols in place and is following all guidelines set forth by the CDC.
Relatively few COVID-19 patients require hospitalization and those who do are isolated. In those cases, additional clinical measures are taken. Preventing the spread of communicable diseases is something we deal with on a daily basis. This means Colleton Medical Center is a safe place to seek medical care, no matter what your health need.
Before you arrive for your appointment, we want to make you aware of a few additional precautionary steps we are taking at this time. We have a number of screening questions in place for all patients and visitors before entering the building.
Here are the questions you may be asked:
- Do you have fever or signs/symptoms of lower respiratory illness, for example a cough or shortness of breath?
- Have you had close contact with a laboratory confirmed COVID-19 patient within the last 14 days?
- Do you have fever or signs/symptoms of lower respiratory illness, for example a cough or shortness of breath, and a history of travel from the affected geographic areas within 14 days of your symptom onset?
On the day of your visit, we ask that you please enter through the main entrance.
If you are experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, or difficulty breathing - or if you have travelled to an area affected by the current strain of coronavirus - please let your physician know immediately.
If you currently use prescription medications at home, it is our recommendation that you bring those with you to your appointment. Some of these medications are in short supply at care facilities at this time, and it would be beneficial to come prepared.
Lastly, all hospitals are seeing symptomatic patients and testing according to CDC guidelines. We respect our patient's privacy and are not able to discuss any specific patient's conditions, however, you can rest assured that appropriate measures have been taken to ensure patient safety as well as the safety of our healthcare workers and any visitors to the facility.
Thank you for trusting Colleton Medical Center with your healthcare needs.
